Andrew Sapienza Bakery, Elmont NY is no longer certified by the KOF-K effective immediately. Items bearing the KOF-K are not authorized. Corrective action is being taken. Sapienza Pastry, Inc, 1376 Hempstead Turnpike is not affiliated with the above bakery and remains Kof-K certified. Kof-K on May 23, 2011.

New York Beef, displayed a forged certificate from Mehadrin Kashrus in NYC at their stall in Union Square farmers market in NYC. At no time have they produced products under our Mehadrin Kashrus supervision. The New York State Kosher Law Enforcement department and the Greenmarket management are trying to resolve the issue. Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Chocolate, is sold in Israel with a sticker placed by the importer, Royalty Tasa and Jack, Holon Israel, that bears an unauthorized OU symbol. This product is not certified by the Orthodox Union and the sticker did not originate from the Hershey Chocolate Company. Corn on the Cob, Recently, kashrut agencies have reported finding insects in corn on the cob. When the husk is removed, these insects scurry inside in between the niblets. Frozen corn on the cob and canned corn do not appear to have a problem. Guidelines to preparing corn on the cob: 1. Do not cook with the husk on. 2. Do not barbeque raw corn, cook it first. 3. Remove the husks, wash the corn, and inspect well. Do not cook cobs with holes or that appear rotting. 4. After cooking, immerse and check the water – especially the surface.
