Century Dairy Rocky Road Ice Cream, were mistakenly labeled as OK-D in containers under lot numbers #152-12 and #207-12. OK Kosher Certification does not certify this product as it contains non-kosher ingredients. Product has been recalled and relabeled.         OK Kosher Certification, October 15, 2012.

NAC Dry Natural Shrimp, bears an unauthorized Star-K, this product is not kosher and corrective action is being taken. NAC Spices are distributed in the NY/NJ region.       Star-K, October 14, 2012.

Airheads Party Mix, Perfetti Van Melle USA Inc., Erlanger, KY mistakenly bears an unauthorized OU symbol. Though the Airheads taffies are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union and each individual taffy wrapper bears an OU Symbol, the Airheads lollipops that are found in the same bag, are not certified by the Orthodox Union and they do not bear an OU Symbol. Mislabeled Dairy/Parve

Laurel Hill Nacho Multigrain Tortilla Chips, is incorrectly labeled with a plain cRc logo which would indicate it being parve. In fact, the product is dairy (halav stam) as indicated on the ingredient panel.            cRc, October 17, 2012.

Wegmans Gluten Free Double Chocolate Brownie Mix, were labeled with an OU mark without the D – Dairy designation. This product was withdrawn from the marketplace. Consumers who purchased this product prior to the withdrawal should consider it a dairy product.          OU, October 17, 2012

Sunkist Coconut Ice Cream Bar, incorrectly bears a “cRc Dairy Equipment” label. The product is kosher but actually contains dairy ingredients (halav stam) as noted in the ingredients and allergen information.          cRc, October 11, 2012.

Other Alerts

Blueberries from Argentina, have been checked and found to be highly infested. It is therefore not permissible to eat blueberries from Argentina until further notice.         MK Kosher Certification on October 19, 2012.

Health Alerts

Amsellem Butcher/Deli meat products, 5450 Westminster Ave in Côte Saint-Luc, Montreal Canada, are being recalled because they may be contaminated with Listeria. Affected product was sold until Oct. 3, 2012. Anyone who has these items in their home should throw them out and not eat them. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria likely will not look or smell spoiled.            MK Kosher Certification, October 15, 2012.

Kellogg’s Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size cereal, is being voluntarily recalled due to the possible presence of fragments of flexible metal mesh from a faulty manufacturing part. Recalled products include only single serve cartons and 18-ounce cartons of Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original (not kosher) and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the Best If Used Before date. Kirkland and Foppen Smoked salmon, is being recalled after product tainted with salmonella has sickened hundreds of people in the Netherlands. This smoked salmon was sold in the US as a two pack. The recall affects a limited number of ready-to-eat bags of select flavors of Indiana brand popcorn products. Products involved in the recall should not be consumed and may be returned to the point of purchase for a full refund or replacement. The recalled products were distributed with Best By dates of February 4th, 2013 through March 12th, 2013. All other Indiana popcorn products are safe to consume. General Mills Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars, voluntarily recalled a single day’s production of because of a labeling issue where product containing peanuts did not list the allergen on the box’s ingredient label. A production error resulted in a limited number of properly labeled, individually wrapped Peanut Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bar packages being inserted into 6-count boxes labeled as Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars. Affected product has a Better if Used By date of 26FEB2013 on the top of the box.
