Kirkland Signature Funhouse Treats, added a candy that is not certified by the Orthodox Union to the variety recently. The product is sold at Costco in a bag that contains a variety of small individually wrapped candies. Until recently, all the candies in the Funhouse Treat bag were certified by the Orthodox Union. Some outer bags of product that is not certified inadvertently bear an OU symbol. Costco is correcting this error and the new bags will no longer have the OU. Trader Joe’s Frozen Greek Yogurt, is mistakenly labeled with a Kof-K, without the necessary dairy designation. The product has skim milk in it and should be labeled dairy. Future labels will be corrected. Kof-K, August 22, 2012.

Ontario red cabbage, has been found to contain thrip infestation. Until further notice, we recommend the all red cabbage undergo the following 10-step procedure: 1. Discard loose outer leaves. 2. Cut head into 4 quarters. 3. Peel off the outer leaf of one of the quarters directly over the light box. 4. Gently tap the leaf on the lightbox. 5.Examine for small white moving thrips. 6. If even one insect is found, the cabbage may not be used. 7. If no insect is found then repeat steps 3-5 again and then again a third time. 8. If no insects are found on the light box then you may proceed to shred or cut the leaves. 9. Soak the leaves in a soapy solution and rinse well. 10. Check the water for thrips. Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, is being recalled because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled product was distributed to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide and comes in a 16 ounce, plastic jar with an expiration date stamped below the lid. All code dates are included in this recall. Customers who have purchased this item are urged to not eat the product, and to dispose of it or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund. The recall includes: 576 packs of Wellsley Farms brand 16oz Nova batch 6704701 in states including Florida, New Jersey, New York and Ohio on 6/13/12 by BJ’S Wholesale Club; and 119 packs of Spence & Co Ltd brand 8oz Smoked Salmon Trim distributed to Krogers and King Soopers in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah between 6/22/12 and 6/29/12.
