Listerine Pocketpaks, is reinstating Kof-K hashgaha due to the numerous phone calls that Johnson & Johnson (manufacturers of Listerine Pocketpacks) received from consumers. The product will bear a Kof-K symbol in the very near future. In the interim, all Listerine Pocketpaks being sold now are certified kosher by the Kof-K even without the Kof-K symbol on them.           Kof-K, December 15, 2009

Mislabeled Dairy/Parve
My-T Fine Chocolate Pudding, Jel Sert Co., West Chicago, IL, is parve even when bearing a “contains dairy” designation in the ingredient panel. The product had been reformulated though the ingredient statement was not corrected.       OU, December 22, 2009
 
Trader Joe’s Maple Pecan Clusters, bears the Half Moon K parve designation on the label and lists non-fat milk in the ingredients. The ingredient list is in error. The product is in fact parve.    Kosherquest.org, December 5, 2009
 
Gabilas Cheese; Cherry; Potato; and Blueberry Blintzes and Knishes, contain dairy ingredients and are to be considered as dairy as per the ingredients panel. Gift Catalogues, which list foods from different manufacturers often list kosher certifications, including the cRc, for the products being offered. However, the products cannot be guaranteed to be cRc certified unless the actual original factory sealed package bears the cRc or certifying agency logo. Health Alerts
Slim-Fast RTD Products, Unilever, Inc., is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus, a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. The products, sold in stores nationwide, are packaged in paperboard cartons and contain four, six or 12 steel cans that are 11 fl oz. (325 mL) each. Individual cans are also sold in certain retail outlets. The recall involves all Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans, regardless of flavor, Best-By date, lot code or UPC number. No Slim-Fast® powdered shakes, meal bars, or snack bars are affected by this recall. Consumers who have purchased Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans are urged to discard them immediately and contact the company at 800-896-9479 for a full refund. Supervision Changes & Withdrawals

Ciuti International Olive Oil, is no longer certified by OK Kosher. Any product bearing the OK kosher symbol and produced after October 2010 is unauthorized.   OK, September 13, 2011.

Coffee Break and Kosher Select products, produced by United Packaging Group, are no longer certified by OK kosher certification. Corrective measures are being taken. The Tartikov Bet Din also no longer certifies products produced by United Packaging Group.           OK and the Tartikov Bet Din, September 12, 2011.

Woodpecker Cider, listed as approved parve on page113 of The Really Jewish Food Guide 2011, has changed formulation and is not kosher.         London Beth Din, September 8, 2011.

Mislabeled

Saratoga Chips for Goodness Shakes Pub Ale & Sharp Cheddar, bears an unauthorized OK symbol on the label. This product is not certified by OK Kosher Certification.      OK, September 20, 2011.

Pizza Gourmet Wood Grilled Pizza Crust, bears an unauthorized OU. The company has removed the OU from the packaging, but some products with the unauthorized OU may still be in some stores.       OU, September 16, 2011.

Key Food and Big Y, among other supermarkets and food service purveyors, are placing non-kosher products in ads that feature “Happy Rosh Hashana” or “Kosher Specials” headline. These non kosher products are placed near traditional ethnic Jewish special items. Opal S. Y. International Heirloom Farms Pomegranate Juice, bear an unauthorized OK symbol on the label. The juice is not certified by OK Kosher Certification. Corrective measures are being taken. Superior Sensations Gummi candy, bears an unauthorized cRc. Gummi Bears, Gummi Worms, Sour Brite Worms are not kosher and are being recalled. Mislabeled Dairy/Parve

Too Good Gourmet cookies, contain dairy ingredients as listed on the ingredient panel, but the dairy symbol has been inadvertently omitted from some packaging.       Kosher LA and Kosherquest.org, September 20, 2011.

Chicago Coffee Roastery Irish Crème flavored coffee grounds, was mistakenly produced with a dairy ingredient, and should be treated as kosher dairy (halav stam). All product made after September 4th are kosher parve.         cRc, September 13, 2011.

Health Alerts

Jensen Farms Rocky Ford whole cantaloupes, may be contaminated with Listeria and are being recalled. The whole cantaloupes in question were shipped between July 29th, 2011 and September 10th 2011, and distributed in many states, including New York and New Jersey. The whole cantaloupes have a green and white sticker that reads: Product of USA- Frontera Produce-Colorado Fresh-Rocky Ford-Cantaloupe or a gray, yellow, and green sticker that reads: Jensen Farms-Sweet Rocky Fords. If the whole cantaloupe is unlabeled, please contact your retail store for sourcing information. Jensen Farms is requesting any consumer that many have one of these cantaloupes to please destroy the products. SunRidge Farms All Natural Milk Chocolate Cranberries, Falcon Trading Company, may contain chocolate toffee peanuts, an allergen that was not declared. The product, manufactured on November 29, 2010, is in a 6.5 oz package or 10 pound box. The product can be returned to the retail store of purchase for a full refund. Quaker Oats Chewy Smashbar Graham Pretzel snack bars, contain undeclared milk that is not noted on the label. The affected product is limited to Quaker Chewy Smashbar Graham Pretzel snack bars with the UPC bar code ending in 31108 and best before dates between Oct 29 11 and Dec 24 11. Consumers with a milk allergy who have this product in their possession should return it to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund. Vita Classic Premium Sliced Smoked Atlantic Nova Salmon, are being voluntarily recalled due to the potential for contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Packages were sold at stores in areas including Chicago IL, Buffalo, NY and Pittsburgh, PA. The  4 oz. product bears a “sell by date and code” of December 15, 2011. The company asks that it be sealed in plastic bag or placed in some similar container and returned to the retailer from which it was purchased. Contact the manufacturer at 800-989-8482.
